Project TAGGED was selected in the Joint Transnational Call 2020 of M-ERA.NET 2, which is an EU-funded network of about 49 funding organisations (Horizon 2020 grant agreement No 958174).<\/strong><\/p>

High performance solid-sate light sources are critical components in many Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS) and have been the subject of much research in recent years. With the advent of graphene and thanks to its superior physical properties, a new field of research has been opened up for exploiting graphene properties for various applications.<\/p>

In TAGGED project we aim to employ visible and mid infrared light (thermal) emission properties of graphene, when it is electrically biased, in conjunction with an electrostatically actuated substrate and develop a light source with tunable wavelength and intensity. In this concept a thin freestanding graphene layer is suspended over a substrate (a beam or membrane) that can be electrostatically positioned, allowing fine adjustment of its distance to the graphene layer, hence tuning the reflected light and its interferences effects with respect to its wavelength and intensity.<\/p>

Such precisely engineered tunable light sources can provide a broad optical bandwidth; consequently they can advance the spectral resolution in a variety of domains including spectroscopic measurements to investigate wavelength-dependent properties of materials.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
