Since its very beginning, Łukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics has been part of Graphene Flagship, a European program that has had a significant economic impact, generating 14.5 times more than the direct investment made by the European Commission into the project.
Interestingly, the collaboration among Graphene Flagship partners has led to the establishment of more than a dozen new companies in diverse fields like photonics, medical technologies, and materials production. These companies have collectively received tens of millions of euros in private funding.
According to Andrea C. Ferrari, the Science and Technology Officer of Graphene Flagship, the achievements made in such a short span of time are remarkable compared to the typical timeline for developing technologies from the laboratory to real-world applications. This year, we celebrate 10th anniversary of this program and can’t wait to see all the other partners at the beginning of September in Gothenburg! Yes, we nailed it!
More on our researchers’ presentations that will be given during Graphene Week in Gothenburg soon!
The main aim of the Graphene Flagship was to ensure that Europe maintained its leading position in graphene research and innovation.
