Our researchers have been on the road recently, they’re switching from one conference to another. For instance, PIC International 2022 started on June 27. The industries at the event ranged from wafers to epitaxial growth, devices, packaging, modules and systems, to social media. No wonder the Infrared Research Group was there to give a presentation on their recent works.
Photonics Partnership Annual Meeting 2022 in Brussels was scheduled for the last day of June. The scientists from the aforementioned group have been there among CEOs, heads of research institutions, and representatives from the European Commission and the EU Member States. Being a board member Kamil Pierściński, Ph.D., also attended the stakeholders meeting.
After that, all of them came back to Poland to take part in the Mirsens conference (4-6 July) that has allowed many world-class experts, young researchers, and students to share with us their knowledge on optical and laser-based detection of various gases with the absorption features in the mid-infrared spectral range. The event has been attended by academic and industrial research institutions.
Kamil Pierściński, Ph.D., Dorota Pierścińska, Ph.D., Artur Broda, Ph.D., and Grzegorz Sobczak, Ph.D., have had their own presentations on quantum cascade lasers at this event – the specialite of the maison of the Infrared Photonics Research Group. The IP group teamed up with the Photonics Material group led by Ryszard Buczyński to take part in a poster session titled “Development of mid Infrared optics with ZBLAN glass using hot embossing technique.”
This was a very successful time, with many presentations and discussions – said Kamil Pierściński who is also going to San Diego for SPIE Optics and Photonics in August to present an outcome of teamwork titled “Multi-section coupled-cavity mid-IR quantum cascade lasers”, the second presentation at this event – “The experimental investigation of thermal properties of mid-IR quantum cascade lasers” will be given by Dorota Pierścińska.
SPIE Optics and Photonics is one of the biggest events of this type in the field of photonics – so… stay tuned!
Presentations at Mirsens:
- A. Broda: “Development of Single-Mode Wide Tunable External-Cavity Quantum-Cascade Laser at 5 µm”
- G. Sobczak: “Long-wavelength (10+ µm) quantum cascade lasers based on InAlAs/InGaAs/InP heterostructures”
