Yesterday, we were honored to welcome a delegation from the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI)(National Applied Research Laboratories, NARLabs) to our Institute. Following productive discussions, our guests had the opportunity to explore our advanced laboratories. This is TSRI’s first visit to Łukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics in Poland, but it was preceded by a visit to Taiwan by a Polish delegation who were also guests at TSRI. The Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute delegation was led by Tuo-Hung (Alex) Hou. Jeng-Jung Shen gave a compelling presentation on the Taiwan Chip Program, which aims to expand the presence of Taiwanese companies in the global integrated circuit design market. This initiative is in response to the American CHIPS and Science Act and the European ChipsAct.
Furthering Educational Collaborations: We delved into the Europe Talent Cultivation Model, which fosters scientific collaboration between Taiwanese institutions and European universities and research institutes. This model focuses on educating students and faculty in semiconductor technologies, promising to enrich both academic and practical knowledge.
TSRI’s Commitment to Innovation: TSRI’s business model is designed to nurture young talent through access to cutting-edge technological platforms and both short-term and long-term internships. Last year, our young researchers and doctoral candidates benefited immensely from these opportunities, gaining first-hand experience with TSRI’s advanced semiconductor technologies.
Looking Forward: Such initiatives as Taiwan Chip and Europe Talent Cultivation Model are paving the way for significant advancements in semiconductor technologies within our region. Our collaboration with TSRI enhances our research capabilities and positions us strongly on the global stage.
Presentations on potential areas of cooperation were efficiently led by Grzegorz Janczyk, director of our Silicon Microelectronics Center. From the Institute’s side, the discussion was participated by: Kamil Pierściński, Andrzej Taube, Paweł Pieńczuk, Adrian Racki. We are thrilled about the prospects of our joint projects and confident that this partnership will yield substantial benefits for both the scientific community and the industry.
