Not only passports, ID cards, driving licenses, but also government stocks, tax stamps, and even college degree diplomas are forged. So the big question is – what are we going to do about it?
The answer is provided by LumAI – one of the winning projects in M-Era.Net Call 2022. The LumAI system is a smart solution that can be used to make sure your documents are authentic. What’s more, the system will not only confirm the document but also identify its producer, which provides additional security.
What is it that makes it so distinctive?
Firstly, the unique luminescent markers for tagging security documents in the form of prints on paper and polycarbonate substrates, secondly, a multicolor flash lamp for hyperspectral illumination, and finally a dedicated mobile application based on Artificial Intelligence trained for the process of verification.
Some additional information:
We’re happy that our proposal “Luminescent tagging of documents and the method of their mobile detection based on Hyperspectral Imaging and Artificial Intelligence (LumAI)” is one of the only 16% that have been awarded.
Our Institute is a leader of the consortium, and the second Polish consortium member is 3D-nano from Krakow. The project will be implemented with the participation of partners from Lithuania: Vilnius University + Garsų Pasaulis and with one partner from Latvia: Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia. The research in Poland will be financed by NCBR. The total project cost of Łukasiewicz – IMiF tasks is 1.2 mln PLN.
The project’s leader is Kamila Leśniewska-Matys, PhD, Eng. from the Smart Materials Research Group.
