We’re pretty sure that we haven’t told you about our running team yet. As our researchers never run out of good ideas, what better way to call it than… Running Photons! It’s led by our Deputy Director for Finance and Operations – Witold Syrwid who is incredibly passionate about running.
Last Saturday, his team ran the Ekiden marathon in Warsaw, Poland. It was their first relay race ever as Running Photons and despite the unpleasant weather, it was greatly enjoyed by everyone.
It took 4 hours and 17 minutes to finish the marathon, but the team’s goal was not to be the best – but to have fun and enjoy this experience, at the same time hopefully encouraging others to take part in future marathons.
By taking part in the run each team has a chance to support one of 3 organizations: Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę, Fundacja Rak’n’Roll. Wygraj Życie!, Fundacja Spartanie Dzieciom.
The Ekiden marathon was established in 1917 to celebrate the anniversary of the moving of the capital from Kyoto to Edo, which was then renamed Tokyo.
